State of Allowing

Posted in Law of Attraction, Manifestation, Paths to Bliss at 7:50 am

I’ve been running into a lot of good posts about striving to reach a state of allowing–a place where you’re happy where you are and look towards what’s coming with anticipation. For me that has been the most challenging part of the Law of Attraction. I’m great at wanting things, but balancing contentment with wanting more has often alluded me. I wrote a long comment in response to this post about raising my vibrational state and I thought I would reproduce it here:

The “allowing” part has always been the most challenging part of the process for me. There is this contradiction between being happy with now while avoiding thinking about the reality of the things I want to change. And how do I think of a better thought about something that stresses me out?

There are a couple of things I’ve found that help me come to terms with the idea of reaching a state of contentment while trying to feel better. First I work on the contentment part: I meditate on the idea that things are the way they are for a reason and I pair it with the idea that the Universe loves me and wants me to be happy so nothing in my life is here to harm me. Rather, everything is here to help me grow and become a more complete person.

Next is striving for a higher vibrational state. One thing I do (a standard in the Law of Attraction discussion) is “live” in my desired state. I imagine what it would be like to have the thing(s) I want. If I’m working on manifesting something that currently pushes my buttons, I use a trick I learned from Doreen Virtue’s book, “Divine Magic.” I imagine a scale or meter that has the thing I’m trying to achieve at the top, and it’s opposite at the bottom (so prosperity at the top, lack at the bottom for example). I visualize where I am on that scale and then I mentally push the indicator bar up to the top. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s hard depending on how I’m feeling. Whenever I think about what I’m trying to manifest–either joyfully or fearfully, I imagine the scale and I push myself to the top and know that as I push it upwards I’m pushing my vibration more into alignment with what I want.

Sometimes I do this 50 times a day depending on how much I’m thinking about what I’m trying to manifest. I’ve noticed that once I’ve done this practice for a few days, I feel much more at peace with my place in the manifestation cycle and I have to do it less and less. And because I’m not thinking of a specific situation, I can let go of the “how”.

Speaking of raising our vibrational states, Priya Florence Shah has a wonderful post about the different things she does to go to her happy place. She stresses something I believe strongly: being happy is a choice. We choose the people we spend time with, the activities we do, the way we see the world.

What have you chosen today that made you happy?

    Hi Kimberly,

I like your technique of imagining the scale, I’ve done a variation of that myself. I believe you can manifest thoughts too, and when I do this kind of technique I feel like I’m calling the kinds of thoughts (prosperity vs lack for example) I want to have to me.

Thanks also for mentioning Priya’s post, it was a real revelation for me when I realized that happiness is a choice–I remember, with some amusement,
before that point wondering how the heck people were happy, how they got that way. It seemed such a mystery to me at the time. :)

I love the idea of visualizing! It really helps me break out of the ‘how’ while still focusing on manifesting the positive.

    Thanks!

I agree with you both. Doing it makes it easier to reach for the better thought I’ve found, without having to worry about visualizing anything specific. I especially use that trick when I’m having a hard time letting go of the how.
